Uganda at glance
Most of the time, Game viewing is the tourist activity in the Uganda’s national parks because the country has a variety of game, including the rare tree-climbing lions of Ishasha, white rhinoceros, and elephant and it is home to 11% of the world’s bird species (a total of 1,060 bird species).
From the expansive shores of Lake Victoria to the snowy Rwenzori Mountains, Uganda is a beautiful wilderness playground, with opportunities for adventure including treks through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or up to the craters of the Virunga volcano chain or whitewater rafting along the Victoria Nile. And Mountain gorillas are Uganda’s prime tourist attraction.
Uganda’s tourism sector is described as ‘public sector led, private sector driven’. The public sector sets the course, but private tourism providers are the main actors in the tourism value chain.
The tourism components 4As (Accommodation, Access, Amenities and Attractions) are the ones that tourism managers should consider in the development of the destination and ensure that all components are best suited with the quality and requirements of visitors.

Forest National Park located in the Southwestern district of Uganda, Kisoro. These gentle giants are a site to behold living groups headed by a Silverback. Uganda has more than 50% of the Mountain Gorilla population in the Virunga ranges.
Rwenzori Mountains also known as “The Mountains of the Moon” are the hikers paradise in East Africa with five mountain ranges spanning about 120km along the Uganda-Congo border, with Glaciers along the Equator.
Uganda’s Savanna Grasslands are a paradise with losts of animals ranging from Lions, Giraffes, Buffalos, Elephants in Kidepo National park (North East), Murchison National Park (Central), Queen Elizzbeth National Park (West).
Uganda is also a Birders’ paradise with over 1090 different species of birds recorded. The Crested Crane in the photo above is special to the country as a National bird featuring on the National flag and Coat of arms.
The aromatic Arabica famous from the Elgon ranges in the Eastern part of Uganda.

The coffee brew is heavenly and sought after on the international coffee market.
