The Embassy’s main objective is to protect and promote Uganda’s national interests in Türkiye. Uganda - Türkiye Relations

The Turkish Embassy in Kampala and the Uganda Embassy in Ankara were inaugurated in 2010 and 2016, respectively.

The relations between Uganda and Türkiye are developing steadily as a result of high level visits between the two countries and their willingness as sisterly to work together.

His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Uganda on May 31 – June 1, 2016. This visit was the first Presidential visit to Uganda from Türkiye and served to bolster the ties between the two countries.

His Excellency Michael Werikhe Kafabusa, former State Minister for Trade of Uganda, participated in the Türkiye-Africa Economy and Business Forum held in İstanbul on 2-3 November 2016.

The Uganda-Türkiye Investment Trade Industry and Tourism Summit 2022, co-hosted by Foreign Economic Relations Board of Türkıye (DEiK), boosted Uganda’s bilateral trade volume with Türkiye.

It is important to note that Uganda and Türkiye have enjoyed cordial bilateral relations for more than 50 years and both countries are members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and have implemented several joint projects. We also continue to benefit from part of Türkiye Scholarships since 1992 and 365 scholarships were granted to Ugandan students. Turkish companies, on the other hand, continue to leverage on Uganda’s investment opportunities.

Under the Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control Act 2009, Ugandan passports and other travel documents may only be issued to and held by individuals that are proven to be citizens of Uganda.

Any person intending to enter into Uganda should do so only for lawful purposes and in accordance with national immigration laws, guidelines and formalities.

The Mandate of NIRA is to create, manage, maintain & operationeralise the National Identification Register by registering all citizens of Uganda.

URSB is responsible for civil registrations, business registrations, registration of patents and intellectual property rights, and any other registrations required by law.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Trade and Uganda Investment Authority.  The Mandate of UNBS is:
